Kathryn assumed the position of Managing Director of Ride Cincinnati – a nonprofit bike ride that raises funds for breast cancer research. Kathryn took over the position after eight very successful years. In doing so, she led the Event’s ninth & tenth years – which by all metrics – were our most successful years to date.
Kathryn’s attention to detail and ability to keep everyone on task, helped deliver an Event that went off without a hitch. Her leadership style was very effective in ensuring that everyone was on the same page regarding the strategy and tasks at hand. There were no surprises or last minute fire drills. Kathryn had the confidence of the Team from the beginning.
She also went well beyond her assigned duties and even helped deliver additional sponsorships. Equally important – she played a pivotal role in helping to grow our Corporate Challenge – which served as a tremendous growth engine for the Event.
The Board of Ride Cincinnati highly recommends Kathryn for any event management position.
– Allison & Michael Gordon, Founding Board Members – Ride Cincinnati
Kathryn took over the logistics coordinator job for our 2016 event. Her predecessor had the position for several years before that, which made it a difficult transition for our whole team. That being said, having Kathryn on board made the transition a lot easier. She is a very organized and dedicated person. The best quality about her is her experience. She has worked in the event realm for more than a decade and it shows. Many of the hurdles that we encountered while planning for the Mini were broken down by Kathryn’s knowledge from past experiences.
– Patrick Niemeyer, Heart Mini Specialist – Heart Mini Marathon
Kathryn began her 10-year career with the Cincinnati Reds organization as an intern in March 2003 and was hired on full time in March 2005. Eager to learn and quick to adapt, she earned her way up the ranks from Reds Community Fund Assistant to RCF Marketing Coordinator, to Promotional Events Coordinator, and finally Promotional Events Manager.
Kathryn is very thorough and organized. She was instrumental in many facets of the organization, including hiring and managing interns, creating production capsules and managing on-field pregame ceremonies for all home games. Kathryn was entrusted with large-scale events such as Redsfest, the Redlegs Run and the Winter Caravan. Her fluency in Spanish made her a valuable asset in executing our Hispanic marketing.
Kathryn has a strong work ethic and positive attitude – traits that prevail through long hours and unpredictable elements. She is a team player that would be a great asset to any organization.
– Phillip J. Castellini, Chief Operating Officer – Cincinnati Reds
Throughout her time with the Reds Kathryn displayed an ability to facilitate events, both the biggest and the more private, that left no stone unturned. Event planning is in the details, and Kathryn always proved to be one of the best at foreseeing opportunities and obstacles, and working around those to make the best events possible for our fans and consumers. She displayed great management skills overseeing dozens of seasonal interns and hundreds of volunteers. And she always conducted her business in a professional, enjoyable manner.
Kathryn left the Reds organization in June 2013 with the respect and admiration of everyone she worked with. It was our pleasure being a part of her life for over 10 years, and the organization looks forward to working with her in the future, should our paths cross.
– Zach Bonkowski, Director of Promotional Events – Cincinnati Reds
I’ve had the pleasure to work with Kathryn on many complex and large-scale events during her time with the Cincinnati Reds, including the Community Fund. She is smart, organized, very detail-oriented and is willing to go the extra mile whether it is more work, more time or both. Like the events she manages, Kathryn is very professional and an asset to the organizations and colleagues she works with.
– John Cappella, Course Director – Flying Pig Marathon
Kathryn contributed in every aspect of the Reds Community Fund but emerged as a leader with our fundraising events. Her dependable, professional and thorough approach helped shape the “Redlegs Run,” “Marty Brennaman Golf Classic” and others. Eventually, her talents led her to a position in the Reds’ events department where she was part of a small team that managed each of the 81 home games as well as the massive “Redsfest” event in December, not to mention the January Reds caravan and plenty of other complex activities. During a time when the team was expanding its reach significantly with an ambitious new ownership team, Kathryn had the work ethic, organizational skills and energy to keep pace and thrive.
After years of involvement during her time with the Reds, Kathryn was the ideal choice to help us lead our Redlegs Run event after our original director transitioned. Kathryn covered every base confidently and helped us create one of the most successful fundraisers in our history. Her experience combined with her attention to detail and passion for fitness make her a tremendous asset.
– Charley Frank, Executive Director – Reds Community Fund & Redlegs Run
If I could have had her on my team I would have in a heartbeat. Kathryn is a dream to work with. I have seen her in high stress situations handle herself with grace, poise and professionalism. I’ve watched her strategically plan and execute events that are attended by all sorts of different audiences and from start to finish no detail is left unattended to everyone leaves commenting on what a fantastic time they had. Kathryn is organized, professional and always on top of things. She has wonderful ideas and when expressing her opinions she is articulate and respectful. She was an asset to the Reds organization and will be so very successful at any opportunity that she pursues. I enjoyed every minute of working with Kathryn and look forward to seeing what wonderful things she takes on next.
– Emily Burley, Fan Relations Manager – Nashville Predators
Kathryn was one of the top 5 interns I hired and worked with during my four years at Miami University Intercollegiate Athletics. Although we hired nearly 20 students annually, Kathryn stood out from the rest because of her enthusiastic attitude, determined work ethic, sense of humor, and ability to work independently with minimal direction. She managed the promotions for several sports and was always the first to step in whenever a task or responsibility needed attention. Since graduating and moving on to the Cincinnati Reds, Kathryn has been a terrific expert guest in several of my classes at Northern Kentucky University. I would have no hesitation in recommending her, or working with her again in the future.
– Joe Cobbs, PhD, Professor – Northern Kentucky University
When you work with Kathryn, every t is crossed and every i is dotted on everything she touches. In a stressful world like baseball, it makes life so much easier for many people! Kathryn is not only extremely organized, she is a great team player, team leader and has a constant desire to learn new things.
